Sennheiser GSP 550 Gaming Headset is pretty much strong and sturdy. The layout of the controls are pretty good and comfortable to use. You can see a rotating dial situated on the right side that helps you to control the audio. Along with it is a dongle that enables you to switch on/off the Dolby surround sound.

A 2-axis metal hinge system enables you to adjust the gaming headset on your head pretty much easily. Thanks to adjustable headband the headset will fit into any adults head comfortably. Even though it comes with an open-acoustic design, it doesn’t seem pretty much heavy on your ears. You also have the option to plug the gaming headset directly in your PC. Though with this, you need to have the Sennheiser software installed in your system beforehand. This is to have the best in class Sennheiser experience. The software also helps you to adjust the sound and customize your audio presets as well.

The GSP 550 ear cups cover your ears completely. You won’t feel your ears closed or the cups touching your ears as it provides you with enough breathing room. Such is the luxury or the material used for the construction of the ear cups. The microphone that comes attached with the headset comes with an excellent noise cancellation feature as well. But if you are using to listen to songs in a quiet atmosphere, you can easily switch it on, as noise cancelling feature largely helps when you are playing a game or in a noisy environment.

Sound & Gaming Experience

We tested the gaming headset GSP 550 playing various games. This includes Overwatch and other games and the sound quality was excellent at all times. The important feature that makes the GSP 550 stand apart from its competitors is its excellent noise separation feature along with positioning that allows you to locate the enemy just by hearing the sound itself. During the game, I was easily able to locate an enemy coming from behind just by hearing his footsteps.

The Dolby Surround sound option was particularly brilliant as it greatly enhanced our gaming experience a lot. The audio was crisp and crystal clear without any kind of distortions at all. While playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider game, we could very well feel the difference between the GSP 550 and other gaming headsets as the games comes with some background ambience, but the GSP 550 exceptionally captured the sound well.

The bass in the GSP 550 also worked great. On first person shooter games, we could really feel the difference hearing sounds from various weapons. The software also plays an important role to allow you to tweak the sound according to your liking. So if you are in an environment that is susceptible to more noise, explosions and all, then you instantly tweak the sound to decrease the background sound, so you can easily communicate with team members. The deep low frequency sound works really well while watching movies. You can even adjust the presets to hear your enemies’ footsteps clearly amidst explosions around you.

Software

The Sennheiser GSP 550 gaming headset also comes with its own gaming software. It is pretty much compact and easy to install in the system. If you really want to live the Sennheiser experience, then you definitely need to install the software that allows you to control the audio and customize the settings to a great extent. With the software, you can easily enable/disable the dolby surround sound and change the audio presets according to your liking. You can also find a toggle that helps you to switch on/off the noise reduction feature for your microphone.  You also have an option to adjust the sidetone as well. But when compared to other software in the market that comes with other gaming headsets, the features provided with the GSP 550 is pretty much limited. But the thing is that whatever provided in the software works really well without any disappointments.
