Thousands of Filipino fans of the widely popular video game Assassin’s Creed will surely be astounded if one of its future points will center on the Philippines during its colonial regimes under the Spain, Japan, and America. Recently, there have been rumors that there is a big possibility that the next Assassin’s Creed will be set in the Philippines.

Ubisoft, the company that also brought one of the world’s best-selling game franchises such as Prince of Persia, Just Dance, Tom Clancy’s video game series, and Far Cry hinted at the possibility of setting up in the Philippines one of its best-selling game franchises, Assassin’s Creed.

There are speculations that the plot for the next Assassin’s Creed will be set in the Philippines and will focus on the Filipinos’ rebellions against their colonizers. The buzz developed after a fan-made concept photo depicting a Filipino soldier or Katipunero as the next Assassin’s Creed was posted on KatipunanBall Facebook page and one of the Assassin’s Creed Official Facebook page moderators commented, “Interesting…” The remark seemed to hint that the developers are considering it as the next title and concept of the game. The fan art immediately went viral within the gaming community in the Philippines and now many Filipino fans are left wildly hoping that this will be happening soon.

The games have touched on different points in history such as the American Revolution, the Golden Age of Piracy, and most recently, the French Revolution. Given that, the possibility that the game will expand and target other countries’ histories is not too difficult to imagine. The Assassin’s Creed’s ideas of sequels aren’t far-fetched either. It may give emphasis during the Spanish, American, and Japanese eras.
