After staging two successful events with impressive response from thousands of fans from all over the region, the Universal Events & Entertainment—a subsidiary of the Al Ahli Holding Group (AAHG)—recently confirmed that it is bringing a bigger and geekier AsiaPOP Comicon Manila (APCC Manila) for the third time.
AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 is happening on August 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The event will continue to be the ultimate celebration for fans of pop culture bringing together comic followers, artists, designers, animators, toy manufacturers, collectors, movie buffs, music lovers, cosplayers, gamers, technology buffs, fanatic geeks, fitness enthusiasts, beauty and fashion lovers providing immersive and inclusive experience for the visitors.
“Things are definitely going to be bigger. If anything, the overwhelming success of the first two AsiaPOP Comicons has inspired us to keep working harder at bringing better experiences with exciting content into the Manila convention.” Abdulla Mahmood, Director – Marketing and International Business Development of AAHG, said,
One of last year’s highlights had been “Hall M”, a Marvel Showcase for APCC Manila, where superhero fans were treated to never-before-seen footages including straight from the Marvel Studios—of Doctor Strange, one of the most anticipated movies of 2016.
This year Netflix, the world’s leading internet television network, has also partnered with APCC Manila 2017 as one of the main sponsors of the event, offering exciting experiences inspired by their wide array of original series and films.
Last year, APCC Manila fans were treated with a stellar set of celebrities that included Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men and Mad Max: Fury Road), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones and Skins), and Claire Holt (The Vampire Diaries and The Originals), along with a promising roster of artists, cosplayers, and exclusive merchandise.
“It is great for us to partner with studios such as Marvel and Netflix who focus on developing exciting and engaging content for our fans. We are going to keep bringing more content and big pop culture personalities into AsiaPOP, to make it the most unique and awesome pop culture experience for fans and families of all ages,” Mahmood added.
As part of the convention tradition, APCC Manila 2017 will once again feature the CAGE, Cosplay Authority Global Challenge, one of the biggest and farthest-reaching cosplay competitions of its kind in the world.
“In the coming weeks, we will be releasing more exciting updates on APCC Manila. Stay tuned, because we promise to live up to fans’ expectations. We are committed to making AsiaPOP the biggest annual three-day pop-culture extravaganza in the region,” he said.
