Zenless Zone Zero 3.3 Adds Phoenix and Severian Oct 21

HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3, titled Journey to the Sky, launches on October 21, 2026. The update introduces S-Rank agents Phoenix and Severian across two Signal Search phases, adds pilotable mech combat to the main story and delivers a full calendar of seasonal events with free pulls for every Proxy.

The patch follows the September update Version 3.2 and centers on the sky island of Roscaelifer, where a lockdown across Booastrum forces Judge Phoenix and Commissioner Severian to travel together through the occupied skyport of Quietude Isle. The Proxy lands on the island alongside Lindverne and moves closer to the truth behind the three Sunbringers and the Karma Cores within them.

Phoenix and Severian headline the new Signal Searches

S-Rank Fire Anomaly agent Phoenix serves as the second-in-command for combat within the Krampus Compliance Authority, according to the official announcement. Her Core Skill, Nirvana, sears enemies afflicted by an Anomaly so that later Anomaly damage against them can land critical hits. Phoenix also refuses to stay down. If she takes a fatal blow, her Rebirth ability restores her to full health on the spot so she can rejoin the fight at once. She debuts in the first half of the version alongside the S-Rank W-Engine Plume of Rebirth.

The second half belongs to S-Rank Wind Attack agent Severian, a senior commissioner with New Eridu Public Security who uses force when order demands it. His Core Skill, Endless Breeze, automatically dodges an incoming attack and turns that momentum into a counterattack. A clean dodge or a hit with a specific skill builds Energy that powers stronger continuous slashes. Severian arrives with the S-Rank W-Engine Incarcerating Grip. Players who miss the new agents can still pull for reruns, with S-Rank agent Velina and the W-Engine Joyau Dore returning in the first half while Norma and the W-Engine Chief Sidekick return in the second half.

Mech combat changes how story missions play

Lindverne shapes the new story around a different way to fight. Using her Karma Core power Genesis Reconstruction, she builds combat mechs based on High Ambitions Corp. designs that Proxies can pilot while slipping into enemy bases in disguise. Each mech swaps freely between melee and ranged attack modes, and landing an EX Special Attack or dodging enemy fire charges a stronger laser strike. Mechs can also shoot explosives in the environment or hurl heavy objects to clear a path, which helps with puzzle solving as much as combat. HoYoverse says this mech gameplay will remain available in future versions instead of ending with Version 3.3.

Events, outfits and system upgrades fill out the patch

Shops across Lumina Square are hosting the Night of Supernatural Tricks event while the HIA Club opens a VR game called Spooky Funhouse Tales. Proxies drive different Trickmobile styles to scare off uninvited funhouse guests and earn an Angels of Delusion outfit, a new A-Rank W-Engine and fresh Proxy accessories. Three more events round out the calendar. Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty tasks Proxies with repairing Bangboo that malfunctioned after eating tainted chips. Trails of the Hobbling Crow sends Proxies after the culprit who attacked Crowe. Repair! Drifting Art asks players to reassemble painting fragments lost at sea. The familiar Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double-drop events return as well.

On the fashion side, Phoenix receives two outfits sold as a bundle at a limited-time 30 percent discount, while Severian everyday uniform Solemnly Impeccable reaches the store with his Signal Search channel in the second half. Both agents also gain avatars, dynamic wallpapers and trust events, and a new sidebar theme plus a pendant can be claimed through the New Eridu City Fund. System upgrades include Fairy team recommendations that suggest lineups and tactics based on owned agents, tutorial videos for select agents, challenge tips during squad setup and clearer Inter-Knot Reputation progress tracking.

HoYoverse keeps a busy release slate beyond New Eridu, including the HoYoverse co-op action game Nodusfall.
