HoYoverse Opens the Gates to Nodusfall
HoYoverse has pulled back the curtain on Nodusfall, a cooperative action game set in an original fantasy world built from mythologies around the globe. The reveal landed during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 in Cologne, where Geoff Keighley hosted the world premiere. The official Nodusfall website went live during the broadcast, giving fans their first full look at the project.
This is a striking change of direction for the studio behind Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. Those games lean on bright anime styling. Nodusfall goes the other way with a realistic art style and heavy, squad-based battles against enormous creatures.
A World Woven From Many Mythologies
The studio sums up the game with one line: “Wield Divinity, Sever the Dreadnodus.” Players step into the role of a Weaver in a world where divine authority and order have collapsed. Squads of companions hunt mythic beings, claim what divinity remains, and push back against the ruin left behind.
The lore paints a picture of an essence of creation that once swirled at the heart of the heavens. It wove the sun, moon, stars, and the laws of all realms together. Then an unknown calamity tainted the threads of order, and the glory of the divine began to fade. The player character is shaped and awakened by that same essence of creation, dropped into the shattered world to confront the calamity and sever the Dreadnodus at its root.
HoYoverse says new regions will arrive one at a time as the story unfolds. Each region brings its own ecosystems, cultures, and histories. If that pacing sounds familiar, it mirrors how the studio rolled out nations in Teyvat for Genshin Impact, though Nodusfall is a very different kind of game.
Squad Combat and Swappable Divine Skills
The official site highlights four pillars for the moment: squad-based combat against massive creatures, divine skills drawn from fallen gods, loadouts you can swap between fights, and co-op play with companions. Details on party size have not been shared yet, which leaves an open question about how many Weavers can join a single hunt.
The combat framing draws natural comparisons. Several outlets covering the premiere compared it to Monster Hunter and Elden Ring Nightreign, and some reported the game runs on Unreal Engine 5. HoYoverse itself has not confirmed the engine or invited those comparisons, so treat them as informed guesses rather than facts from the studio.
Nodusfall: Confirmed Facts So Far
The reveal stays quiet on the specifics that usually decide whether a game lands on your radar. Here is what we actually know:
- Title: Nodusfall, styled as one word by HoYoverse
- Developer and publisher: HoYoverse, under COGNOSPHERE
- Genre: Multi-mythology co-op action game
- Trailer runtime: 3 minutes 20 seconds
- Platforms: Not announced
- Release window: Not announced
- Beta: No dates given, access details to come through official channels
No platforms and no release window means there is still plenty of room for surprises. Given how the studio handles its live-service titles, expect a long runway between this reveal and launch.
Pre-Registration and Official Channels
Pre-registration is open now on the official Nodusfall website. The site includes Features, Chronicles, News, and Community sections. HoYoverse says beta access, battle reports, and future updates will run through official channels, so signing up early is the safest way to stay in the loop.
Nodusfall joins a wide slate for HoYoverse alongside its live-service lineup, and it is the clearest signal yet that the studio wants to build outside the anime-styled gacha RPG lane it is known for.
