Ubisoft Quebec is set to release the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows on November 15th, marking the first entry in the series to be set in feudal Japan. The announcement was made through a cinematic trailer that showcased the game’s stunning visuals and introduced players to the two lead characters, Naoe and Yasuke.
Naoe, a female shinobi Assassin from the Iga Province, and Yasuke, an African male samurai, will take players on a thrilling journey through Japan’s rich history. While Naoe is a fictional character, Yasuke is based on the real-life figure of Japan’s first Black samurai who served under lord Oda Nobunaga. Each character will have their own unique skills, progression paths, weapons, and stats, with Naoe focusing on stealth and Yasuke on combat.
Ubisoft Quebec is known for its successful implementation of dual protagonists in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Shadows is expected to build upon that legacy. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Ubisoft+, Amazon Luna, and Macs with Apple Silicon. Players who subscribe to Ubisoft+ or purchase the Ultimate Edition will have early access to the game on November 12th.
The first gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to be revealed in June, likely during Ubisoft’s Forward presentation. Fans can look forward to more details about the game’s mechanics and storyline as the release date approaches. Ubisoft’s previous entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, Mirage, was well-received by fans and critics alike, setting high expectations for Shadows.
