Exciting Updates Unveiled for Fortnite at Unreal Fest Orlando 2025
This morning was a significant one for Fortnite. During the Unreal Fest Orlando 2025 event, Epic Games showcased its latest State of Unreal presentation. The focus was on upcoming features and enhancements to the widely used Unreal Engine. Among the highlights were several updates related to the user-generated content (UGC) platform known as Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).
New Content from Popular Shows
A major announcement revealed that content from Netflix's hit series, Squid Game, is set to launch on June 26. This date coincides with the premiere of the show's third and final season. Additionally, fans can look forward to new content inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, which will be available next year. Epic noted that this decision came after a successful crossover with Nickelodeon's beloved series.
The Force Awakens in UEFN
The most thrilling news, although lacking a specific release date, is that Star Wars content will soon arrive in UEFN. Given the numerous popular collaborations between Star Wars and Fortnite, it will be fascinating to see how players utilize these new tools to create unique experiences.
Darth Vader's AI Technology Expands Horizons
Additonally, Epic announced that technology behind their recently introduced AI-driven interactive Darth Vader NPC would also be integrated into UEFN. This feature allows players to engage in conversations with Vader while utilizing AI-generated responses crafted using James Earl Jones' iconic voice-something he had approved before his passing.
This innovative approach did spark some controversy when players managed to make Vader utter inappropriate phrases, prompting Epic Games to quickly implement a fix.
A Glimpse into Interactive Characters with Mr. Buttons Demo
Eager to showcase what this technology could achieve beyond just Darth Vader, Epic presented a demo featuring an original character named “Mr. Buttons.” In this scenario, Mr. Buttons encouraged players to press a large red button located in the center of a room while engaging them in conversation about whether or not they should do so.
A Suite of New Tools for Creators
The State of Unreal presentation also highlighted additional tools designed for creators within Fortnite. One such tool is called Epic Digital Assistant; it serves as an AI helper aimed at assisting developers with coding tasks inside UEFN.
An exciting addition launching on June 17 is a Lego Brick editor specifically designed for Lego Fortnite. This feature introduces 50 classic Lego bricks available in various colors that users can employ creatively when building islands piece by piece.
