Virgin Plus Adjusts Pricing on 60GB Mobile Plan

Virgin Plus has made some changes to its pricing for the 60GB mobile plan, initially raising the cost before bringing it back down.

The Bell-owned provider now offers this plan for $40 per month. This package includes unlimited calling and texting across Canada, as well as unlimited calls from Canada to several countries including the U.S., Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and the U.K. Additionally, users can send unlimited international texts from Canada and enjoy standard features like call display and voicemail.

Details of the Plan

This plan provides 40GB of data at 4G speeds up to 150Mbps. The monthly fee also comes with a $10 discount if you set up autopay.

Previously, Virgin charged $39 per month for this same service but briefly increased it to $45 in an attempt to match Rogers' Fido. As of June 6th, however, they reverted back to $40-aligning their pricing with Telus's Koodo brand that also offers a $40 for a similar 60GB plan. At present time writing this article, Fido continues to charge $45.

A Closer Look at Pricing Trends

While it's encouraging that Virgin's temporary price hike didn't last long, it's important to recognize that customers are still facing a higher rate than before-albeit just by one dollar.

Furthermore, when comparing plans among Virgin Plus and its competitors like Koodo and Fido right now reveals they may not be offering the best deals available. For instance,Public Mobile, another brand under Telus's umbrella offers an attractive $35/month for a similar 60GB plan, which includes access to faster 5G data along with built-in roaming options across Canada and into both the U.S. and Mexico. Not only is this option cheaper than those offered by Virgin or Koodo but it also provides quicker data speeds along with free roaming services.

The Competition Heats Up in Mobile Plans

Freedom Mobile is another player in this space offering competitive rates as well; they have a $35/month option featuring similar benefits including access to both Canadian and American networks alongside Mexico coverage or even a more generous deal at $40/month providing users with up to 100GB of data nationwide. These alternatives not only come at lower prices but often include more extensive or faster data options compared with what major carriers provide.

Your Options Beyond Major Carriers

If you're on the hunt for an affordable mobile plan that meets your needs without breaking your budget consider looking beyond just these big three providers: Bell (which owns Virgin), Rogers (which owns Fido), or Telus (which operates Koodo). There are plenty of other choices out there worth exploring!
