Virgin Plus hikes prices on majority of 4G plans

Bell-owned Virgin Plus has recently made some changes to its 4G plans, including raising prices on its 60GB and 50GB plans while introducing a new, more expensive 40GB plan. This adjustment comes shortly after the removal of a $39/40GB plan that was added just a few days prior.

The current lineup of 4G plans from Virgin includes a $54/60GB plan, a $49/50GB plan, a $44/40GB plan, and a $39/20GB plan. These plans offer 4G data with capped speeds of 150Mbps, video streaming quality limited to 480p, unlimited Canada-wide calling and text, and unlimited international texting from Canada. It's worth noting that these plans are only available for new activations.

The increase in prices for Virgin's 4G plans puts them in line with Fido's offerings before any discounts are applied. Additionally, the new pricing places Virgin's plans $5 per month higher than Koodo's plans. This shift in pricing may not sit well with some consumers, especially when considering that competitors like Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile continue to offer more cost-effective options with better features such as 5G data and larger data allowances.

For those interested in exploring Virgin's updated plans, they can be accessed on the provider's website. However, it may be wise to hold off on activating a line on any of these plans until prices potentially come back down. This price hike could be seen as a step in the wrong direction for Virgin Plus, especially when there are more affordable and feature-rich alternatives available in the market for consumers in Canada.
