Samsung is addressing a common concern with foldable smartphones – the visible crease in the screen. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumored to feature a thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer, measuring 50 microns, which is 20 microns thicker than the previous model. This upgrade is expected to make the screen more durable, scratch-resistant, and importantly, less prone to showing a noticeable crease.

While it is uncertain if the Z Fold 6 series will also benefit from this thicker UTG, it is likely that a similar improvement could help reduce the crease on those devices as well. Reports suggest that Samsung is sticking with the waterdrop hinge design for this year's models, but there are speculations about introducing a new hinge design and even thicker UTG for the Galaxy Flip 7 in 2025.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumored to launch this summer, possibly alongside the Galaxy Ring and multiple variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. While the Galaxy Flip 7 is still far from release, these advancements in UTG technology could pave the way for a more seamless foldable smartphone experience in the future.
