Exploring the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: A First Look
The latest addition to Samsung's smartphone lineup is the Galaxy S25 Edge. While I had the opportunity to get a close-up experience with this device, I faced some challenges that prevented me from delivering a full review.
Initial Impressions and Device Issues
Samsung sent out a review unit on May 23, and my plan was to spend a week testing it before writing an in-depth analysis. Unfortunately, the device I received came with several problems.
I can't share images of the phone due to these issues. The most noticeable flaw was an engraving at the bottom of the screen-a large serial number that remained visible no matter how many times I reset it. Additionally, there was an unremovable ‘Issue Tracker' notification that persisted despite attempts to disable it through settings.
Waiting for Solutions
Initially, Samsung assured me they would release a software update to fix these glitches. Later on, they promised a replacement unit. Because of this uncertainty, I held off on conducting my usual thorough tests while waiting for the new handset. Sadly, delays in receiving this replacement meant I couldn't push my testing as far as I'd like.
A Glimpse into Performance Features
This situation left me unable to evaluate one key aspect everyone is curious about: battery life. However, I did manage some hands-on time with other features like the camera and gaming capabilities using titles such as Marvel Snap. Additionally, I connected it with Backbone Pro for playing Devolver Digital's horror game Carrion.
Sleek Design Meets Functionality
I previously mentioned how impressed I am by how lightweight and slim this phone feels in hand. Pairing it with the Backbone Pro controller enhances gameplay without adding much bulk-making for an enjoyable gaming experience overall.
The Galaxy S25 Edge appears capable of handling tasks smoothly based on my limited use so far. I'm eager for more time with this device once we receive our new unit next Monday; expect detailed insights into its performance and battery life soon!
