Apple is gearing up to release its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, in 2024. According to a recent leak, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will come equipped with a 48-megapixel primary camera, featuring Sony’s advanced custom IMX903 sensor. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro will sport the IMX803 sensor, similar to the previous year’s models.
In addition to the upgraded primary camera, Apple is also working on a new ultrawide camera for the iPhone 16 Pro model. This new sensor is expected to capture more light, especially in low-light conditions, thanks to its 48-megapixel sensor compared to the 12-megapixel sensors found on the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Earlier leaks have suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will offer advanced camera features, including a stacked design for improved performance, a 14-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for high-quality image conversion, and Digital Gain Control (DCG) for enhanced dynamic range and noise control.
While the iPhone 16 series is set to launch later this year, only the 16 Pro Max will receive the updated primary shooter. Those interested in the advanced primary sensor will have to opt for the larger variant, as the iPhone 16 Pro will not feature the same camera improvements. However, if the larger size is not preferred, Apple is expected to release the 17 Pro model in 2025 with similar advancements in camera technology.
Overall, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models are shaping up to offer significant improvements in camera capabilities, providing users with enhanced photography and videography experiences. Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch date approaches.
