Google has introduced new features for Nest Cam users through the Google Home app on the web. The desktop version now allows users to access camera footage, create a timeline history, and download/share clips with picture-in-picture support. Google has released a YouTube video demonstrating these updates, showcasing features like clip naming, timestamp display, and the ability to clip unnecessary parts of videos.
These new features are available to users with a Nest Aware subscription, priced at around $10 per month. Additionally, users can opt into a garage door detection feature that utilizes Nest Cam sensors to alert users if their garage door is left open. This feature is currently available in Google's Public Preview, which offers early access to upcoming Google Home features.
In 2022, Google initially launched web viewing for Nest Cam, and these recent updates further enhance the user experience. The clipping option is set to roll out in the coming weeks, providing users with more control over their video clips. With these new features, Nest Cam users can now better monitor their home security and access important footage conveniently through the Google Home web app.
