Computex, Asia’s largest high-tech event, will run from June 2nd to the 6th this year in Taipei, Taiwan and BIOSTAR will be showcasing upcoming Intel 100 series chipset motherboards, gaming oriented motherboards and VGA cards as well as mini PCs designed for Karaoke and IPC Embedded solutions. Attendees are all invited to talk to BIOSTAR representatives at their location at the Nangang Exhibition Hall 4F at Booth L1017A.

On display will be the Intel Z170, H170, B150 chipset based motherboards that support 6th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor family (codenamed Skylake). More information will be revealed at Computex, so make sure to come by and see the exclusive hardware. Also, this year BIOSTAR will be partnering with Thermaltake who will be sponsoring some of the gaming peripherals like cases, power supplies, CPU fans, keyboards and mice, so visitors will be able to get their hands on running hardware to see, touch and experience the full effect.

The BIOSTAR booth will be showcasing the Gaming Z97X motherboard along with the GTX 960 graphics card. The Gaming Z97X features dual LAN (Killer & Intel) for high performance LAN connections, onboard high-speed interfaces such as USB3.1, PCIe M.2 and SATA Express, and in-house Hi-Fi technology for the best crystal clear sound experience.

The Gaming Z97X is the first complete gaming motherboard designed by BIOSTAR and is designed from the ground up to be cool looking and high performing. It comes with BIOSTAR’s exclusive Super Hi-Fi Audio technology and support for DisplayPort. Two on-board HDMI supports 4K and 2K resolutions.

This board also heralds the launch of the BIOSTAR external Gaming Commander box. It fits in a standard 5.5″ (CD-ROM) area; it is also comprised of software with voice control center exclusively designed by BIOSTAR. The external box features an independent USB DAC, dedicated MIC_IN and Line-out jacks, buttons for volume adjustments, a diagnose LED for CPU/ DDR/ VGA temperature indicators, and exclusive XLouder button for quick MIC boost. The Gaming Commander software is a user friendly interface with equalizer functions which allows users to make their own voice effects while enjoying games.

With the Gaming Z97X BIOSTAR has prepared two LAN connectors, with the most popular Killer LAN and Intel LAN chips. With Dual GbE LAN, the primary advantage is doubling bandwidth from 1G to 2G, and with two high-speed gigabit networks plus zero packet delay that provides super high data transmission efficiency. Another major advantage is “Load Balancing”, it allows a gamer to attach both network adapters to a single network. It will therefore support the aggregation “teaming” function by merging the two connections to support multiple aggregation modes. In addition, two Gigabit Ethernet lightning protection circuits reduce the probability of damage from lightning or other power surge, so if one connection is disabled the other connection will automatically kick in.

The Gaming Z97X looks cool and sharp with the armor design and there are a lot more great features like the LN2 switch, T-Overclocking software & an onboard XMP button for easy CPU and memory overclocking. BIOSTAR hopes you can come by to experience it yourself at Computex.

The MSRP for the Gaming Z97X is US$189

The Witcher 3: Wild hunt is a 3rd person action-oriented, fantasy RPG developed by Polish game devs CD Projekt RED. It is the latest and final installment of The Witcher franchise—well, at least concerning the saga of Geralt of Rivia. With the stunning open world comparable to many AAA titles like Skyrim (or pretty much anything Bethesda makes) and the Assassin’s Creed series, this installment of Witcher may be the best one yet.

It is rare these days to find a game with such heart that it surprises with genuine delight. I wasn’t exactly fond of The Witcher when it first came out, viewing the game merely as one of those other media forms taking advantage of the immensely popular Lord of the Rings hype with its overly zealous marketing of high fantasy and other sorts that made kids want to be like Legolas.

The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt_Getting_paid--best_part_of_the_job

Take into account how Geralt looks like; gruff yet sleek, rough yet debonair, and an all-around tough guy of sorts. A gigantic cliché of a manly protagonist if I ever saw one, coupled rightly with the white hair as well as an air about him indicating a “dark and mysterious” background story. I could care less for another Gary Stu that attempts to travel from one end of the game map to another in order to save a damsel in distress and/or the world from an assured destruction caused by fate, prophecies, or all sorts of other nonsense.

But then, it became a different story once I started playing the first. Not only did I realize that Geralt is an ever-so-increasingly complex character with multiple flaws, the world itself was crafted to be that same way.

The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt_They_call_this_civilization--I_feel_safer_in_the_woods

The strength of The Witcher 3 isn’t at all in combat mechanics or the graphical awesomeness (which are all readily apparent), but it is in its story. Sure, the game may fall victim to some shoddy scripts, but those are pratfalls well within the limits common to most games. The better point is that the plot and development of each of the characters aren’t all that obvious, making for some notable surprises along the way. These developments, though not at the level of any shocking Game of Thrones plot twist, all pile up within a player until, finally, they realize how rich the world actually is.

It falls to become even more apparent with the treatment of the open world. Quests feel streamlined to a point where they aren’t quite obvious as mere side missions that players can embark on to improve Geralt’s abilities. No, it goes far deeper in fact.

The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt_Prepare_for_impact

The last time I had ever felt the powerful cling of another world was in the time I had in Bethesda games, most notably that of Skyrim, and we all know how powerfully amazing that game is. In Witcher 3, I felt it once more because I cared little for my own artificial well-being, to say that stats, gear, experience, and all other sorts of artificial rewards and advancements were of little interest, and I was far more gripped by the ailing of the Witcher’s world.

The line between main quest and side quest is blurred to a definitive point where it is so incredibly hard to tell which activity is more important than the others. Every quest line finished and the way it was finished affect the real story one way or another. The consequences are felt strongly, as if you truly are trying to save the world without realizing the fact that you are just playing a game. It is astonishing how the developers crafted the world to feel real—not just in the sense of graphics or other representation of the senses, but to actually feel the grandness of your moral responsibility and consequential actions towards the game’s many inhabitants.

The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt_You€™re_just_delaying_the_inevitable

That’s another fantastic aspect; Geralt isn’t what he looks like. Going back to my earlier judgment of Geralt, The Witcher 3 takes the protagonist’s flexibility to soaring new heights. He does not take on a rigid form as to limit players what he can and cannot do, but is susceptible to any kind of decision, morally ubiquitous or otherwise. Sure, he may not be your created character, but he can easily be an extension of yourself as a player due to the excellently crafted dialogue system that engages players and immerses them in the Witcher’s world.

You will feel guilt, you will feel shame, and you might just even feel saddened by the many peripheral activities that require your complete attention. Like I said earlier, it’s very rare to find a game that makes you care about what happens in the world of the game, whether you are an intrepid warrior out for blood or a merciful hero.

The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt_Halberds,_really_now

While of a lighter element compared to the grandness discussed above, combat is astonishingly crafted as well. In a fashion similar to the Monster Hunter series and Souls series, The Witcher 3’s combat system is derivative of animation locks and full-blown skill shots. It isn’t something as diminutive as the Dynast Warrior’s hack and slash mechanics, but it can easily be picked up by anyone new to this type of fighting. Very often, players have to carefully plan out their mode of attack, urging caution above all else lest they suffer a crippling blow that could very well spell the end of Geralt. It is a deeply rewarding system and realistic to a point that the game can even come off as something even hardcore survival fans would enjoy. No, I don’t mean in the sense of an actual survival game, but the immersion provided by the combat experience gives off a strong vibe with which many fans of the genre are already familiar.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a remarkable piece of art in the gaming industry and it is an absolute joy to experience. While it may be have certain oddities and flaws, the entirety in itself makes up for those drawbacks four hundred times over. It isn’t the greatest game in the world, but it comes pretty close.

Studio Wildcard confirmed today that the island of ARK: Survival Evolved will open its gates Tuesday, June 2, onto Steam’s Early Access, merely three weeks after announcement of the game. The veteran team at Studio Wildcard is working fervently to make the immersive open-world dinosaur survival game that has been dreamed of for so long by so many gamers.

From the 70-plus species of prehistoric creatures roaming the island, five new ARK dinosaurs and their abilities were revealed today: Dilophosaurus, Sabertooth, Titanoboa, Coelacanth, Pteranodon.

ARK Digest #2 with game content updates and commentary on the dinosaurs is now live on the ARK Steam forums HERE.

In celebration of ARK: Survival Evolved’s public opening on Steam, Studio Wildcard is giving a special invitation to all Steam players who were stomped on by The Stomping Land. As a way of saying welcome to their new dinosaur home on ARK, all owners of TSL will automatically receive an exclusive “Stomped Land Bling Shades” cosmetic accessory for riding around in style on their Tyrannosaurus Rex, something that Stomped players have been waiting to do for a long time. [For the record, no Studio Wildcard dev had anything to do with that game! Just sympathetic ;)]

Powered by Unreal Engine 4, ARK: Survival Evolved takes on the survival genre with a unique blend of emergent multiplayer cooperation and competition. Players awake naked and starving on the beach of a mysterious island called ARK among a herd of other confused humans. They must then hunt, harvest, craft, research technology, and build shelters to protect against scorching days, freezing nights, volatile weather systems, dangerous wildlife, and potential enemies. Tame and ride one of 70-plus amazing dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts, including gargantuan creatures on a scale never before seen in video games! Fly a Pterodactyl squadron over snow-capped mountains, race through the deep jungle with your pack of trained Raptors, tromp through a fortified enemy base along a convoy of gigantic Brontosaurus, or chase down prey on the back of a raging T-Rex.

ARK: Survival Evolved will launch in 2016 on PlayStation®4 with Project Morpheus support, Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program, and Steam, including Oculus Rift VR support and a thorough integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods. Players will also be able to host private/LAN servers, and have access to a custom-built version of the Unreal 4 Editor for creating mods. The world of ARK is designed to be player-oriented and ever-expanding!

Having played Driving Simulation games such as Need for Speed and Gran Turismo in the past, it’s a no-brainer that I’d try Project CARS, too. Truth be told, I didn’t expect much from this game, but it really did live up to its promise of giving gamers what they want.

Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

So, you see, Project CARS is actually the outcome of a crowdfunding project spearheaded by Slightly Mad Studios. In terms of innovation, that’s already a big leap from their contemporaries because they weren’t backed by any giant software or publishing companies. In short, the game came about because of people’s clamor and support.

Also, aside from playing the game in platforms such as the PC, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, and Steam, you can also play it using the Oculus Rift—which would make it more realistic for you. However, it might also induce some headaches so if you have experienced playing with the Oculus Rift before and haven’t had much fun with it, you can just choose not to use it for Project CARS. Soon enough, it might be available for Project Morpheus, too.

One of the things that I really like about Project CARS is the fact that as you get to play the game, you could also aid in the development of other routes and characters in the future. Plus, members who have helped in funding the game would also receive some shares in the next 3 years. Now, who says that gaming couldn’t be fun and beneficial, at the same time?

17118708850_b6bbfc770b_o_a_1430914244

Here’s what you can keep in mind: Project CARS is really for those who are passionate about motorsports, especially racing.

You see, compared to other games in the same niche, this one’s close to the real deal, in terms of getting back to basics. Think blustery fields, dirt roads, and racing tracks that you see in real life—that’s what you’d get here, too.

There are 100 courses that you can play in 30 locations, such as China, Germany, Spain, The United Kingdom, and Ireland, among others. This is pretty cool because at least, you have a lot choices on the locations you’re comfortable with, especially if you’re just a beginner. As for the cars, there are over 70 cars in the game, so again, you’d have so many choices. There are road cars, karts, super cars, and track day cars, and a whole lot more that you can customize and use according to your preferences. My personal favorites are the Lotus F1 Cars—classic, and sweet.

Another great thing about this game is the fact that you can choose whether you want to host private games with your friends, or play with people online. You can do exhibitions, play on Season Mode, or create your own circuit and gameplay. You can even choose which time of day you’d like to play! Aside from that, you can also partake in community events, leaderboard challenges, and big racing weekends—which add a lot of fun and excitement to the game!

16690710424_e036a40e8b_o_a_1430914243

Visuals and graphics of Project CARS are really of high-quality. You know, there was actually a lot of hype about the graphics but I have to say, Project CARS exceeded the expectations of many.

The tracks look so real. For example, just imagine driving cars along scenic highways such as the Pacific Coast, or the Cote d’Azur—and feel like you can really see the curves of the roads and the waves in the sea. In real life, you may not really be driving there, but it’s still nice to see those places onscreen. The cars, well, even if you’ve played driving simulation games before, would still put you in awe. Project CARS would be able to show you cars that are so well-detailed, you’d almost believe that they’re real.

Plus, there are graphics that show how the car looks like from the inside. You’d see the dashboard, so you’d really feel like you are in control. Cool, huh?

There’s also the fact that the effects are also on point. Just imagine watching in IMAX or 4DX cinemas—that’s almost like the effects that you’d get here. There are weather effects, and personally, I like the wind and water effects the most. There are even graphics showing rubber burning, and sparks coming from the extreme collision of the cars to the ground. Things like these could surely make anyone more enthusiastic about the game itself.

Oh, and there are also no sexy supermodels in this game. Again, Project CARS is patterned from real life racing games, and unless you’re just into car shows and such, you probably won’t find supermodels there.

17166476967_123b40ec3e_k-1_a_1430914244

Now, this is probably the biggest difference of Project CARS with other driving simulation games: The Sounds…or the lack of it.

Well, not really a lack of it, but more of the fact that there are no cheesy hip-hop and R & B songs playing in the background. You can’t customize the radio, but then again, this is not Grand Theft Auto. It is a driving simulation game, and though it’s just a “game”, it really proves to be smarter than what people perceive it to be. You’d only hear the way the car hits the ground, and how it traverses those paths, based on how you maneuver it.

Sure, it may be a little too hard on the ears but hey, you should already have expected that, especially if you really want to feel like you’re in a real life racetrack.

17174146930_e5a46d42b5_k_a_1430914245

The question is…why won’t you try it out?

If you’re a driving enthusiast, I have to say that you do have to try this game out. There may be some things that need to be tweaked to make it more appealing to the masses, such as audio and music, but otherwise, it’s pretty good.

If you want a taste of the real deal, Project CARS would surely provide you with what you need to know—that’s for sure.

The World of Tanks has only been around for three years here in Asia, but there has already been an evident rapid growth in its community. The creators of the game owe everything to all the avid fans and players of World of Tanks, so they’ve decided to have a huge 3rd anniversary celebration for all their Filipino gamers.

The said anniversary event was held last April 25, 2015 at Area 05, Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Tank lovers all over the Metro came in full force to spend the day with their fellow Tankers – those who have the same fascination and passion. People of all ages, even little kids, came to celebrate World of Tanks Asia’s 3rd anniversary, and they sure did enjoy every minute of it.

wargaming3rd1

Participants waited in line outside the entrance of Area 05 as they signed up to register for the event. As more people were rushing towards the entrance, opening remarks were given by the facilitators of the event. The facilitators and event organizers could easily be distinguished from the rest of the group because they wore military-inspired costumes and camouflage shirts. All the participants were warmly welcomed into the celebration.

There were fun World of Tanks mini games for everyone. Winning in these mini games was already very fulfilling, but the event organizers decided to add more to the excitement by having two sets of raffle draws for all the participants of the event.

Tankers celebrated the anniversary like a very special friend’s birthday, and what’s a birthday without a cake? World of Tanks Asia’s anniversary cake had a red tank on it, and it was sliced as the participants partook their meal. A toast was also given to celebrate yet another milestone in the history of World of Tanks Asia.

Beautiful ladies in military uniforms strutted down the runway in an awesome ramp show. The military uniforms showcased the different countries in the World of Tanks Tech Tree. The participants of the event brought out their cameras and took several photos with the realistic characters of the World of Tanks game.

There was also a tank scale exhibit during the event. Miniature models of manually made tanks were displayed and showcased with their creators standing just right beside them. All of the tanks were perfectly crafted. At first glance, you would definitely think that these miniature models were the real thing.

Halfway through the event was an undeniably amazing performance by one of Philippines’ most popular rock bands, Kjwan. Marc Abaya and the rest of the gang awed everyone in the audience by singing their greatest hits.

Right after announcing the second batch of winners for the raffle draw, the organizers ended the event by thanking everyone who came and celebrated with them. The event was evidently successful, and everybody obviously enjoyed the anniversary celebration of World of Tanks Asia. Those who came sure did spend a long time standing outside the entrance, but the efforts proved to be worth it in the end.

WEBZEN, a global developer and publisher of free-to-play games, is delighted to announce that the PvP-focused MMORPG Archlord 2 just released its new content update focused on Guild Battles.

Starting today, new exciting features are available in Archlord 2, with the action-packed Guild Battles and a new area, El Dorado, in which characters from all levels can confront challenging new monsters in a limited timeframe for bountiful rewards.

Being part of a guild will now be even more rewarding, as the new update focuses on the highly anticipated Guild Battles, a weekly confrontation pitting guilds of the same faction against one another to vie for domination over specific territories with precious benefits at stake.

Each week, guilds can enter one of the five guild battle areas for their faction, trying to wrestle ownership of that area away from its current owner. Although only one guild will be defending a given territory, members of multiple guilds can participate as attackers. The goal is to seize a strategically important stronghold by capturing a relic, located within the stronghold and protected by thick walls. Strategy and teamwork will be paramount for victory, as only a guild master can capture the relic. Should they succeed, their guild will then become the new defending guild of the territory and a new phase of battle is initiated. The roles of the teams will change again if another guild is successful in capturing the relic. The winner of the battle will be the guild controlling the relic at the end of the battle. For a week, until the next round of guild battles starts, guild members will be able to use special skills and have access to discounts at NPC vendors and craftsmen within the borders of their new territory which may prove invaluable in their future battles.

As the name suggests, El Dorado will be both a zone of challenge and abundance for new and seasoned players. Available several times a day through the week, characters will have 30 minutes to kill the hundreds of much sought-after Golden Monsters in this new instance. In order to ensure maximum enjoyment from this instance, there will be no level restriction for the participants, nor any possible encounters with the opposite faction.

Players with a WEBZEN account can update their game client or download the latest update on the official website: http://archlord2.webzen.com/Download

Independent developer Studio Wildcard has pulled back the curtains on its Jurassic creation today with the announcement of ARK: Survival Evolved, an open-world dinosaur survival game where players fight for every breath amongst the most ferocious creatures to ever walk the earth. In development for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux, ARK: Survival Evolved will launch on Steam’s Early Access program June 2, 2015, for survivors to begin exploring the vast, formidable environment and its many secrets.

Powered by Unreal Engine 4, ARK: Survival Evolved takes on the survival genre with a unique blend of emergent multiplayer cooperation and competition. Players awake naked and starving on the beach of a mysterious island among a herd of other confused humans. On ARK, they must then hunt, harvest, craft, research technology, and build shelters to protect against scorching days, freezing nights, volatile weather systems, dangerous wildlife, and potential enemies.

Use cunning strategy and tactics to tame and ride the many dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the dynamic, persistent ecosystems across land, sea, air, and even underground. Build your character’s strengths and gain items, skills, and pet creatures using in-depth role-playing systems. Start a tribe with hundreds of other players to survive and dominate competing tribes…and ultimately discover the ARK’s true purpose.

“ARK taps into the scale, size, and wildly unpredictable nature of the dinosaur eras like no other game before it, then pairs it with the wonders of exploration and technological discovery,” said Jesse Rapczak, co-founder and co-creative director, Studio Wildcard. “We’re particularly excited to bring ARK to consoles, as open-world survival gameplay is typically found solely in PC games.”

Tame one of 60 amazing dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts, including gargantuan creatures on a scale never before seen in video games! Fly a Pterodactyl squadron over the snow-capped mountains, race through the deep jungle with your pack of trained Raptors, tromp through a fortified enemy base along a convoy of gigantic Brontosaurus, or chase down prey on the back of a raging T-Rex. Players will quickly learn that dinosaurs aren’t the only dangerous creatures on the island. Other players are organizing rebel tribes to accumulate resources, experience, re-spawn points, and to construct sprawling villages and cities, with technology spanning the primitive stone-age to the modern electric-powered era and beyond. And they will fight to destroy anything they see as a threat.

ARK: Survival Evolved will launch in early 2016 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program and Steam, including Oculus Rift VR support and a thorough integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods. The world of ARK is designed to be player-oriented and ever-expanding!
